About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and MASAR when you use masarnow.com. You accept them when you create an account. Guides also accept the Guide Terms. The Refunds & Cancellations policy and Community Guidelines are part of these terms.
MASAR is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. Those details are being finalised and will appear here.
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract to use MASAR.
What MASAR is
MASAR connects people who want firsthand perspective ("customers") with people who have relevant experience ("guides") for paid, one-to-one video conversations ("sessions"). Guides are independent. They are not MASAR employees, and they speak for themselves, not for MASAR or for any university or employer.
When you book, you pay MASAR through our payment partner, Stripe. MASAR keeps its fee and pays the guide their share after the session.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details private and your information accurate. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; accounts can't be sold or shared.
Profiles
Everything on your profile must be true. Guides must not claim roles, schools, employers, qualifications or results they don't have. Profiles are public unless you are a member who hides your profile from search.
Booking and paying
- Guides set their own prices and session lengths. Prices are in US dollars.
- Before you pay you see the guide, the session length, the date and time in your time zone and the total price.
- Your chosen time is held for 30 minutes while you pay. If payment doesn't complete, the time is released and nothing is charged.
- Your booking is confirmed once payment succeeds, and we email both of you with the details.
What you're buying is a guide's scheduled time and honest perspective. A session doesn't guarantee an admission, job, interview, referral or any other outcome, and it isn't professional advice (such as legal, medical, financial or immigration advice).
Fees
Customers pay the listed session price. MASAR's fee is 10% of the price and comes out of the guide's share.
Calls
- Calls happen in your browser on MASAR, using our video provider, Daily. The room opens 10 minutes before the start.
- We record when each person joins and leaves and the connection quality, so problems can be judged on facts.
- When you join, you choose whether to allow transcription. The call is transcribed as text only if both people agree. MASAR never records video or audio.
- You must not record, screenshot or transcribe a call with any other tool, or use an AI note-taker, unless everyone in the call has agreed and the law allows it.
Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
Customers can cancel up to 24 hours before a session for a full refund, and reschedule once up to 24 hours before. If a guide cancels or doesn't show up, the customer is refunded in full. Other problems can be reported within 24 hours of the session, and our team decides based on the evidence. The Refunds & Cancellations policy has the details.
Keeping payments on MASAR
For 12 months after you first connect with someone through MASAR, you must not arrange or accept payment outside MASAR for sessions like the ones offered here with that person. This protects both sides: paying outside MASAR removes refund protection and the evidence we use to resolve problems.
This doesn't restrict relationships that existed before MASAR, unrelated work, or anything we agree to in writing, and sharing contact details needed for a booked session is fine. If we find this rule has been broken, we may suspend accounts and recover the fees we would have received.
Acceptable use
Follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, don't:
- impersonate anyone, lie about your experience or post fake reviews;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or expose the private information of anyone;
- offer or ask for sexual services, or use MASAR for anything illegal;
- share confidential employer, client or exam material, help anyone cheat, or sell referrals or influence;
- scrape the site, send spam, or attack our systems or other people's accounts.
Content you share
You own what you write and upload. You give MASAR a licence to host and show it only as needed to run MASAR, for example to display your profile and reviews. We don't sell your content and we don't use your calls or messages to train AI.
Reviews
Only customers who completed a paid session can review it. Reviews must be honest and about the session. We may remove reviews that break our guidelines.
Reporting and enforcement
You can report a profile or a session. We review reports, may ask both sides for information, and may warn, restrict, suspend or remove accounts in proportion to what happened. If we take action against your account, we'll tell you why unless the law prevents it, and you can ask us to review the decision through the contact page.
Our responsibility to you
We provide MASAR with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, MASAR is provided as it is: we don't promise it will always be available or error free, and we aren't responsible for what a guide says in a session or for decisions you make afterwards.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights under consumer law. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to [LIABILITY CAP].
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, once your upcoming sessions, open reports and pending payouts are finished. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. Sessions already paid for are handled under the refunds policy.
Changes
We may update these terms as MASAR develops. For important changes we'll email you in advance. The version and date are shown at the top of this page, and we record which version you accepted.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW]. If you're a consumer, you keep any protections given to you by the law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
